Am 07. August gedenkten die Assyrer weltweit zum 80. male an die Opfer des Massakers von Simele. Auch in Ankawa, welches sich in der autonomen kurdischen Region im Nordirak befindet, haben die Assyrer an die Märtyrer von 1933 gedacht. Hierzu hat Massoud Barzani ein Brief verfasst.
